Main Responsibilities

Your Contributions

This position is responsible for developing, revising, and implementing new and revised product packaging and labeling for non-sterile medical products. This position will support the Manufacturing Engineering team by serving as the subject matter expert for packaging and labeling requirements, documentation, equipment, processes, and qualification.

Bachelor’s Degree

• Bachelor's degree in Packaging, Engineering, or related field

• 5+ years in a manufacturing environment with increasing responsibilities

• Experience with manufacturing systems

• Basic knowledge of:

GMP and ISO regulations
ERP systems, SAP, Smartsolve or similar Quality doc control systems
Programmable logic controllers
OSHA regulations
CAD systems, Spectrum or Codesoft or similar label software
• Demonstrated success in leading teams

• LEAN or 6 Sigma training
• Knowledge of:

Packaging and labeling development, material and equipment selection and qualification
Vision inspections systems for labels
Data acquisition systems
Fundamental engineering logic and problem-solving
Capital expense request process such as budgeting and justifying the purchase of a new piece of equipment
Organization’s manufacturing processes and materials/resources
GMP and ISO regulations
• Ability to:

Read and understand equipment drawings and blueprints
Work and communicate effectively with a wide range of co-workers in a cooperative manner
Plan and manage time well
Maintain a high level of initiative, effort and commitment

Technical Competencies

Develop and review justification documentation to support packaging changes.
Creates user requirement specifications for packaging and labeling equipment.
Collaborate with sourcing to communicate design specifications with suppliers, review quotations, select suppliers, and purchase and install packaging and labeling equipment.
Serves as subject matter expert regarding labeling requirements, labeling procedures, labeling software, base materials, inks, labeling equipment, vision systems, label cutting, and industry best practice.
Maintains awareness of best-in-class packaging equipment for the applications used at DiaSorin.
Collaborates with Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, and the Operations Excellence teams to identify opportunities for Packaging and Labeling improvements and prioritizing those opportunities within the Project Pipeline for future planning and capital equipment budgeting.
Initiate Change Plans and Change Orders within the DiaSorin documentation system for activities related to packaging and labeling, most commonly for new or revised design releases, manufacturing procedures, and equipment qualification protocols and reports.


Align behavior with the needs, priorities, and goals of the organization
Serve as a resource to the engineering team

Collaborates with R&D, Marketing, Quality, Manufacturing, and Regulatory teams to develop, revise, and implement new and updated packaging and labeling for the company’s medical products.
Lead product packaging efforts to include package design (typically containers, cartons, carton inserts, and boxes), material selection, and performance testing to ensure meeting packaging requirements, intended use, and regulatory criteria.
Define container and package specifications based on available packaging equipment, intended use and regulatory/corporate requirements. If existing equipment is not appropriate, identify, evaluate, and recommend capital expenditures for packaging and labeling equipment to support requirements.
Collaborate with Sourcing to ensure containers and packaging meet specifications. Serve as supplier technical interface and subject matter expert in matters of packaging quality.
Utilize 6 Sigma, Root Cause Analysis, and or lean tools to identify and implement solution.
