Position Summary

The Senior Manager/ Manager is expected to participate as an active member of the Manufacturing Operations management team with responsibility for assisting the Director in setting the manufacturing strategy and executing production plans.

· Manages all areas of the organizational strategy and the company’s goals in terms of quality, backorders, obsolescence and scrap.

· Develops and supports an engaged workforce that readily identifies-plans-implements solutions for efficiencies and improved kit performance that align with employees’ career development

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Lead and manage the Reagent Manufacturing and Quality Control groups so that the group operates in a productive, efficient, cost effective, and safe manner

Identify and drive manufacturing KPIs and maximize collaboration within the manufacturing and production areas.
Meet all customer, regulatory, and procedural requirements and maintain levels of product availability
Develop and maintain a strategy that promotes continual improvements with regards to quality, cost, and product delivery
Promote open channels of communication throughout the organization through continual thoughtful and open communications.
Actively participate in team meetings and act as a resource to the group.
Actively facilitate in sharing of information across the organization in a way that results in good coordination of actions and decisions, and continuous improvement of results and performance.
Promote an environment that supports trusting relationships and ethical leadership.
Conduct performance evaluations on a regular basis with staff to discern their work, their progress on defined goals, their strengths and opportunities for improvement.

Technical Competencies

Prepare and conduct the performance assessment delivering a candid and respectful discussion about results. Perform review process according to corporate guidelines and complete on a timely basis.
Provide training and development to employees to assure their continual growth in the acquisition and demonstration of needed skills, knowledge and abilities.
Strategically identify characteristics and skill sets needed in future staff additions.
Recruit and select employees for open positions, achieving a balance between position/role requirements and the individual skills, knowledge and abilities of employees.
Establish and communicate responsibilities and expectations to employees to assure mutual understanding of results expected.
Participate in the development and delivery of internal training programs.
Formally and informally lead training of others in areas of competencies where appropriate.
Ensuring that all the employees are trained on new procedures (instruments/assays) as well as the required yearly training (i.e. ISO, cGMP, Right to Know etc.)
Participate in formal and informal trainings required to increase skills.

Skills

Senior Manager - 15+ years industry experience in manufacturing/quality/product development environment with a minimum of 6 years of supervisory responsibility

•Manager - 10+ years of industry experience in manufacturing/quality/product development environment with a minimum of 3 years of supervisory responsibility
Knowledge of good laboratory and good manufacturing practices (GMP)

•Advanced MS Office skills

•Decision making ability and leadership skills

•Working knowledge of immunoassay products and instruments to be supported.

•Knowledge of safety regulations appropriate to working in a laboratory environment.

•Knowledge of budgeting process and elements of a budget.

•Skill at preparing and presenting written materials such as reports, presentations and proposals.

•Problem solving ability to allow diagnosis of problems, resolve key issues and implement resolution.

•Interpersonal skills such as the ability to put others at ease and elicit ideas and information.

•Skill at developing and maintaining relationships with internal and external customers
